Dr. Sutton-Tyrrell serves as the scientific director of the Ultrasound Research
Lab (URL) and she is supported by an associate director, Emma Barinas-Mitchell and a consultant, Trina Thompson,
DrPH, MPH, BSN, RVT. The lab has three full-time registered vascular technologists,
and two part-time technologists who read studies and provide additional
support. The technologists are trained and certified in all testing procedures
provided by the laboratory.
The lab is located at 130 North Bellefield Avenue, Suite 320, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and supports a variety of research studies in the study of subclinical atherosclerosis.
Available equipment includes Acuson Sonoline Antares ultrasound system (Acuson, A Siemens Company), Toshiba Ultrasound Systems (Toshiba American Medical Systems, Tustin, CA), Brachial Analysis Systems, pulse wave velocity waveform collection systems (continuous-wave Doppler), Colin VP2000 systems, DynaPulse Pathways, and 8 reading stations.
